Colombia Independence Day
The Colombian Declaration of Independence was made on July 20, 1810, at the Spanish Colonial Viceroyalty in New Granada, Santa Fe de Bogota. As a result, the Janta de Santa Fe was formed that day. The experience of self-government eventually led to the formation of the Republic of Colombia. (Note: New Granada and Venezuela’s initial ambitious territory, according to the captaincy of Venezuela, included far more than present-day Colombia.
